Success Stories

Ernie, Daisy and Max

Over the last three years, we have adopted a Basset through Colonial, one each year. Above is a photo of all three – can I tell you how hard it was to get them all to sit still and not wander over for pats instead?! We love them all.

Ernie, whom we adopted in May of 2006, was our hardest case. He had been bounced around many times in the year prior to our adoption of him and he required a lot of special love and attention. It was also suspected that he’d been abused, which we believe was true due to his severe dislike of anyone’s feet. With the help of our other Bassets, Daisy and Max, he has really come a long way and although he still tends to be an attention hog, he has realized that he is finally in his forever home. He is a super love bug who feels it’s his responsibility to fill an empty lap.

They are such wonderful, funny dogs. Little did I know when we first adopted Daisy almost 4 years ago that it was the start of a great love affair. They have such unique and charming personalities and they make us laugh all the time. We are so grateful to have found Colonial Basset Rescue and been able to give three wonderful dogs a happy home.

Heather, Paul, Zach, Nikolas
